Gladiator Reigns in Panama City!

While most middle schoolers prepared for time off during winter break, one Gladiator headed south to showcase his talents among other elite athletes. Mateo Evans of the 13u Red team embarked on a journey to play in the Youth Baseball All-American Games in Panama City, Florida.

The Youth Baseball All-American games is an invite only event and features hundreds of outstanding players from across the country. Mateo and other participants were placed on a team and formed new friendships as they battled other teams during pool and bracket elimination play. In addition to the exciting tournament, each player went through Baseball Youth’s skill measurements to see how their numbers match up with their teammates. And as his coaches and teammates know, Mateo ranked among the top. Mateo was invited to play in the All-American Games after he ranked in the top 3 performers for his age division last summer in Elizabethtown, KY while playing for Rivals 13u. After Mateo’s performance at the All-American Games, he was selected to play in a Perfect Game showcase later this year. This event will allow Mateo to show off his individual talents in front of college recruiters. Mateo joined Coach Matt McDonald’s team early spring 2021 and quickly became a critical part of the 12u Gladiator’s success. Playing and practicing with two teams kept Mateo and his family busy. More important than his ability on the playing field, Mateo takes his academics very seriously and is a leader in the classroom.

Swords up and hats off to Mateo Evans. Traveling the country and wearing his G-Shield proudly. We salute you.
